Five Top 4th of July Celebrations in the US ??

It should come as no surprise that the 4th of July is one of the busiest travel days of the year. It is the epitome of the American way of life. From live music festivals, BBQs and cook-offs, carnivals, parades and rodeos, 4th of July celebrations have something for everyone! And the events often stretch on for a week or more, so get to planning your summer vacation now!

Belton, TX – 4th of July Celebration and Rodeo
The 4th of July celebration in Denton, TX is a tradition that dates back to 1850 when the town hosted a small patriotic march downtown. The event has since grown into a week-long celebration that includes a Kick-Off BBQ in Yettie Polk Park with live music, arts & crafts, water slides, local vendors, fresh squeezed lemonade, and of course 3 nights of PRCA rodeo at the Bell County Expo Center. The event now draws over 50,000 attendees. In 2008, USA Today even named Belton’s 4th of July Parade as one of the nation’s “Top Ten Places to Fly Your Flag on the 4th.”

Cedar Rapids, IA – Freedom Festival
Beginning in June, this festival is chock full of family fun events, and is expected to draw over 400,000 visitors this year. Starting on June 10th Cedar Rapids will be host to a Hot Air Balloon Show, multiple live music events, water ski shows, special K-9 friendly activities, picnics, fireworks and more. This is a great option if you’re looking for something fun and family friendly.

Southport, NC – 4th of July Festival
There is something for everyone in this seaside community during its 4th of July celebrations. Not only are there car shows, arts & crafts, sand sculpting, and sack races there is also, watermelon rolling, live music at a waterfront stage, and much more. You’ll be sure to find something that interests you in Southport.

Saint Louis, MO – Fair Saint Louis
Also known as ‘America’s Biggest Birthday Party,’ Fair Saint Louis is a free admission event that is celebrated at the Arch Grounds on July 4th, 6th, and 7th. Expect live music, good food, and fun activities. This year in the Fair’s Interactive Zone, attendees get to view and learn about new products. And of course, don’t forget the nightly firework show.

Houston, TX – Citgo Freedom Over Texas
This one-day event has been around for over 30 years. Starting at 4:00 p.m. on the 4th, come prepared to Buffalo Bayou. You’ll experience a variety of live music, family fun activities, and an absolutely stunning fireworks show put on by Citgo. The party wraps up at 10:00 p.m.!
