The 2018 iHeartRadio Music Awards were held at the Forum in Inglewood, California earlier this month. The night was full of some of the biggest names in music across every genre, and the promise of excitement was met as these stars gathered together for laughs and celebrations of their talent and inspiration.
This event truly brings something for everyone with categories in Alternative Rock, Country, Hip-Hop, Dance, R&B, and Latin. In addition, iHeartRadio also features a few multi-genre categories such as “Best Lyrics” and “Best Collaboration.” This wide array not only offers individual fans something for their tastes, but it highlights the true strength of music as a whole: it brings us together and unites us across different cultures and backgrounds.
Some of the most coveted titles of the night went to some very deserving artists (a few we’ve loved working with over the years):
BEST NEW ARTIST
With competitors like Judah and the Lion, Luke Combs, and Khalid, Cardi B must have been elated to take home this award. She used the moment to display her ballerina-inspired dress and thank her “haters” in her speech.
MALE ARTIST OF THE YEAR
Ed Sheeran bested talents like Bruno Mars, Charlie Puth, and the Weeknd to claim this title. In addition, he also picked up the much-anticipated Song of the Year award for his song “Shape of You.” Sheeran most definitely had a smash hit kind of night!
FEMALE ARTIST OF THE YEAR
The nominees featured Rihanna, P!NK, and Alessia Cara, but the win went to Taylor Swift, adding to the starlets growing collection of honors and awards. She wasn’t physically present to accept her award because of her tour rehearsal schedule, but she had pre-recorded an acceptance speech.
GENRE AWARDS
The winners in individual genre categories included Imagine Dragons (Alternative Rock), Metallica (Rock), Thomas Rhett (Country), The Chainsmokers (Dance), Kendrick Lamar (Hip-Hop), Bruno Mars (R&B), and Luis Fonsi (Latin).
In addition, Chance the Rapper was awarded the INNOVATOR AWARD.
Overall, the night was an amazing display of talent, and Innovative Entertainment is proud and excited to partner with many of these creative, inspiring artists for events across the United States and beyond. We can’t wait to see what next year’s awards will bring to the stage when faces new and old once again come together to show us what music is all about.
