Castello di Amorosa, nestled in the Napa Valley region, is an authentic replica of a 13th-century Tuscan-style castle. Modeled with medieval designs and construction techniques, the “Castle of Love” took 15 years to complete. Eight levels, four of which are underground, house 107 unique rooms, including a church, watchtower, loggia, moat, drawbridge, courtyards, stables, an armory, and even a torture chamber. Rumor has it there’s also secret passageways! The structure’s five defensive towers overlook the beautiful vineyards that provide grapes for the winery within.
Dario Sattui, a successful 4th-generation Italian winemaker and entrepreneur, started building the castle in honor of his grandfather, Vittorio Sattui. Open to the public since 2007, the castle and winery delight visitors with daily guided tours, cheese and wine tours, and food and wine pairing tours. The winery produces Italian style wines such as Pinot Grigio, Pinot Bianco, Chardonnay, and dessert wines.
This winery has become a winery fan favorite. The LA Times included Castello di Amorosa on their California Bucket List and U.S. News ranked it #4 on Things To Do in Napa Valley. Fodor’s listed the castle as one of the few kid-friendly wineries in Napa Valley. Not only a unique winery and vineyard destination, but it’s the perfect elegant venue for hosting special events, be it corporate, social, or private.
