Positioned in bustling downtown Atlanta, the Georgia World Congress Center (GWCC) is a leading location for conventions, entertainment, trade shows, and even film productions. In 1971, the Georgia General Assembly established the Georgia World Congress Center Board to create an exhibition center. As a result of the Board’s efforts, the Georgia World Congress Center first opened its doors in 1976. Today, the Georgia World Congress Center Board is known as the Georgia World Congress Center Authority and oversees a 220 acre campus, which includes the Georgia World Congress Center.
At that first opening in 1976, the Georgia World Congress Center was a 350,000 square foot exhibit space. After major expansions in 1985, 1992, and most recently in 2002, the GWCC is now a 3.9 million square foot facility and one of the largest convention centers in the United States. With two ballrooms, three auditoriums, twelve exhibit halls, and ninety-eight meeting rooms, this convention center is full of flexible space opportunities. In addition to sleek interiors, three landscaped plazas are also available for outdoor options.
The GWCC is as practical as it is beautiful. All three buildings on campus are fully ADA accessible and offer Wi-Fi throughout. Seventy-two loading docks, drive-on access to exhibit halls, and 7,000 parking spaces ensure smooth access to the space before, during, and after each event. The Georgia World Congress Center was purpose built to host truly amazing events – we love bringing entertainment to this center that has every event need covered!
